Captain’s Log, Stardate 62385.6

I just had a productive meeting with the new Chief Pilot of the USS Janeway; Lieutenant Junior Grade Kate Wood, whom is the daughter of my First Officer. At first I was worried that the mother-daughter dynamic would be difficult to work with on the bridge, but I have the assurances of Commander Nevala that it won’t be an issue. I hope that I haven’t made a bad decision here.

We are still docked at Starbase 97 where some extra maintenance is being carried out of the ship and I finish manning the ship. Some of the senior officer positions are still vacant and I have received a multitude of applications but none of the officers seem to fit the bill. Maybe I am being too hard on them? Expecting too much?

No. I know I am doing the right thing by holding out as I know that some great find of an officer will request a transfer or apply to the ship. They have to, who wouldn’t want to be on this mission?

Work is proceeding as planned and we are set to undock on schedule. I just hope that the Janeway has the officers to actually make the ship go.
